At any point in their education at BEC, students will have the opportunity to take High School Options courses. These courses count for high school credit only and are offered in an online and asynchronous format. These courses are great for students who might not want to take a full load of classes at the community college, or who want to take a course that is not traditionally offered at the community college. These courses are also perfect for students who enroll with BEC between college terms.
Which courses are offered in this format?
All core classes plus physical ed, health, world languages, work experience, and independent study are offered as HSO courses. Essentially, if it’s a high school graduation requirement, you can take it through our HSO offerings.
Who should consider taking High School Options courses?
A wide variety of our students utilize our HSO offerings! If you struggle in a certain subject area, if you prefer to slowly add college-level courses to your schedule, if you’re more likely to succeed by taking classes asynchronously (i.e. at your own pace)—these are all great reasons to consider one or more HSO classes.
