Our mission is to empower the next generation of Oregonians through innovative, rigorous, and personalized educational options.

Baker Early College (BEC) is a public charter high school within the Baker Charter Schools organization, sponsored by Baker School District 5J.

Since its founding in 2008, BEC has grown steadily, serving students across Oregon who are ready to take the next step in their academic journey. BEC offers a flexible and supportive pathway for high school students to begin college-level work while completing their high school diploma – tuition-free.

Through partnerships with community colleges and universities statewide, students can earn real college credit via two distinct pathways: Dual Enrollment and Dual Credit.

  • Dual Enrollment allows students (grades 10–12) to attend college courses on campus or online through our partner institutions. These courses appear on both high school and college transcripts.
  • Dual Credit courses are taught by BEC educators and offer the option of receiving college credit. Students earn high school credit automatically, and if they receive a college grade of C or higher, they can also choose to have the course recorded on their college transcript.
