We believe that every student learns differently, so we work closely with families to create a personalized learning plan that meets their unique needs. Parents or guardians partner with a dedicated advisory teacher to choose curriculum and materials that support their child’s success. In this model, the parent or guardian serves as the student’s learning coach at home, guiding daily learning activities.
For students who receive special education services, we use a team approach that includes special education staff, general education teachers, and the learning coach. Together, we provide personalized instruction and support within the general education setting, so every student can thrive.

Full Inclusion
Baker Web Academy is a public online charter school that employs a full-inclusion model. This means all students, including those with special education needs, learn together in the same virtual classrooms and/or curriculum. We customize learning plans to meet each student’s unique needs.
One-on-one Suppport
Each student receives one-on-one advisory visits for support. These visits may include tasks such as checking on progress, offering instruction, assisting with assignments, and providing specially designed instruction when necessary.
Because of the way our program is structured, these one-on-one supports happen within the general education setting and do not separate your student from their peers.
If your student qualifies for special education services, those supports may be delivered in different ways, such as through consultation with special education staff, extra help in the general curriculum, tailored instruction, or specialized materials designed to support your child’s learning goals.
Learning Coaches
A learning coach is someone who supports and guides students in an online or remote learning environment to help them succeed academically and stay engaged. This role can be filled by a parent, guardian, tutor, teacher, or professional hired specifically for this purpose. Here’s a breakdown of what a virtual learning coach typically does and their key responsibilities:
- Academic Support
- Helps the student understand the course material
- Encourages good study habits and time management
- Tracks assignments, deadlines, and progress
- Motivation & Accountability
- Keeps students motivated and focused
- Helps them stay on task and complete work on time
- Sets daily or weekly goals
- Technical Assistance
- Assists with navigating learning platforms and technology
- Troubleshoots basic tech issues or connects with tech support if needed
- Communication Liaison
- Acts as a go-between for students and teachers or online schools
- Helps interpret feedback and communicate questions or concerns
- Emotional Support
- Provides encouragement, especially when students feel isolated or frustrated
- Helps build confidence and resilience
